The procedure for customs clearance of goods or registration of the necessary documents, customs clearance of transported goods is quite complex, requiring skills, experience and certain knowledge. In addition, for companies that conduct foreign economic activity, doing this is unprofitable and takes a long time. After all, this requires a staff of employees, who also need to be trained. That is why companies, as a rule, prefer to delegate their powers for customs clearance to a special organization – a customs broker, who will carry out a set of activities related to resolving such issues.
Customs brokers are official legal entities that act as intermediaries between state customs authorities and companies, enterprises, and firms engaged in foreign economic activity. Their competence includes services such as:
- collection, preparation, execution of all necessary documentation for the passage of cargo through customs;
- making all necessary payments (contributions, fees, etc., taking into account benefits and preferences);
- Competent and correct filling of declarations;
- selection of the appropriate code for imported/exported products according to the goods classifier;
- full-fledged advisory and representative support for the customer in government agencies;
- assistance in obtaining licenses, certificates and other permits;
- work on behalf of the client with customs authorities, etc.
